St. Luke’s University Health Network needs your expertise as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)/Cancer Data Registrar, Full Time, First Shift, Bethlehem, PA.

Job Description:

The Network Cancer Registry requires credentialed staff (Certified Tumor Registrar – CTR) that is trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of oncology data collection and case abstracting. By using a standardized cancer registry data system, the Cancer Data Registrar has responsibilities for the collection and coding of demographics, cancer identifying elements, definitive treatment, extent of disease, and patients’ disease status, from a variety of source documents, for state reporting requirements, National Cancer Database reporting requirements, and accreditation with the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer. The focus of the Registrar’s activities is guided by the interests and directives of the Cancer Committee, Cancer Registry Manager, Medical Staff and Administration. Cancer Data Registrars are looked to by healthcare professionals as quality measurement trends develop.

Required Qualifications:

Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential required. Candidates must meet the education and experience prerequisites in order to sit for the CTR exam. Graduate of an accredited Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) program will be considered with commitment to obtain CTR credential within 3 years of date hired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of site-specific tumor biology, staging, and treatment required. In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology and statistics required. Data entry skills required. Prior cancer registry experience requested.

Education Qualifications:

A minimum of an associate’s degree with two semesters of coursework in human anatomy, plus 1,950 hours or more of cancer registry work experience.
