Job Description:

Position Summary:

  • Abstracts appropriate data from the cancer patient medical record in accordance with the NJ State Guidelines and ACOS

  • Forwards appropriate information to the State

  • Communicates with physicians, allied health professionals and other registrars

  • Prepares reports and participates in on-site reviews

  • The Cancer Data Manager is responsible for the management of disease related data collecting systems

  • Compiles and maintains records of hospital patients treated for cancer to provide data for physicians and research studies, utilizing tumor registry data system

  • Reviews hospital records to identify and compile patient data for use in cancer management program and to comply with government regulations

  • Reviews patient's medical record, abstracts and codes information, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures and treatment, and enters data into computer

  • Contacts discharged patients, and physicians to maintain registry with follow-up information, such as quality of life and length of survival of cancer patients

Required Qualifications:

Certification by the National Tumor Registrar Association (CTR) required. HS/GED required, BA/BS preferred.

Job Description:

Prepares statistical reports, narrative reports and graphic presentations of tumor registry data for use by hospital staff, researchers, and other users of registry data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and skills in using Metriq

  • Responsible for prep for American College of Surgeons

  • Must be a Certified Tumor Registrar

  • Good computer skills and medical terminology

Job Description:

The Cancer Registrar must select and abstract all cases of malignancy diagnosed and/or treated at Community Medical Center, cases with a history of cancer or cases of consultation only into the Cancer Registry Data Base for submission to the State of New Jersey.

The cancer registrar will assist the Coordinator in completing information requests, creation of the Cancer Program Annual Report, and monitoring the quality improvement process.
